Welcome to MCW’s Career Lattice. Throughout our careers, we each follow a unique path and can move laterally and vertically across experiences . The Career Lattice, developed by the Office of Human Resources, will help you visualize where you are today and determine where you want to go in your career here at MCW.
The Career Lattice will educate you about Career Groups, Career Paths, and Career Opportunities within MCW. The first step is to visit the Talent Profile page within EMERGE to view your current grade and Career Path. Already aware of these items? Move to Step 2.
In this step, you will learn about your current grade and Career Path. Understanding where you currently are in your career at MCW will help as you work through the next steps of the Career Lattice.
Visit your Talent Profile and learn your grade and path.
Now that you know your grade, in step 2 you will explore Career Groups within MCW. Your Career Group is determined by both your experience within your field and your education. MCW categorizes jobs into four primary Career Groups: Experienced, Core, Support, and Foundation. This step will help you understand more about your Career Group, including the scope of your job, and also about the Groups above and below you. This step is especially helpful for individuals contemplating applying for a promotion or switching Career Paths. The basic qualifications for each Career Groups are shown below.
Jobs are graded based on common factors which are used to identify a job scope. Each Career Group has a defined skill, effort, responsibility, working conditions and overall organizational impact. Here, you are able to evaluate expectations for individuals within your Career Group, as well as levels above and below you. This will help you understand learning and experience that may be required in order to take the next step in your career.
